"The Insomnia Festival has its 10th jubilee the 20-22 October this year. We have as always our focus on new, innovative and up-and-coming artists under the big undefined umbrella called electronic music. Since it is our anniversary, we have worked hard to put together an exiting and spectacular program that will satisfy even the oddest taste. Insomnia Festival runs as a non-profit event, with our main goal to create an artistic melting point and an important platform for innovative artists above the Arctic Circle.The Festival combines modern music, with new technology and design through public seminars during the festival. It all shapes around live concerts, DJ/club events, seminars, exhibitions, performance installations and debates. Notice that it is not our goal to book artists that everyone appreciates, and already know, but rather to create an adventure of new music where you can find new artists to love, and probably someone to hate as well. However, we do include well known and major artists in our line-up, and all our artists are up to-date with recently music productions and we guarantee an awesome experience.

The festival is one of Norway’s biggest its kind and is located in the city of Tromsø, 300 km above the Arctic Circle at 69° degrees. Tromsø lies in a fjord surrounded by snow-covered mountains 365 days a year. Ranging from the midnight sun to the northern lights, the surroundings exotic nature makes that it is surely worth a trip. Tromsø was Norway’s capitol of house and techno when the genre emerged and has bread some of Norway’s larges export varieties of electronic music such as Röyksopp and Biosphere. With is high density of students, musicians and artists Tromsø is famous for its nightlife and open minded people in general. It is all over a beautiful location with lovely people and it makes the perfect stage for an electronic music festival. Welcome to Insomnia 2011!"
