Musikprotokoll 2011
im Steirischen Herbst
06.10. - 09.10.2011 / Graz, Austria

Glimpses of a workshop: acoustic vignettes, audio-visual valuables, walk-in acoustic backdrops and orchestral statements. Being both heterogeneous and yet stringent, the musikprotokoll programme gives insights into the work of younger and older generations of artists working in many different ways with sound, images and space. Heterogeneous because they come from a variety of genres – from ensemble and orchestra to multimedia instruments. Stringent because they all continue to work on the premises of the musikprotokoll tradition: as a platform and production site for young artists, beholden to the aesthetic ambitions of the risk of current modernism and always with a view to the special regional location in the south-east of Europe.

Presentation of CineChamber:

In 2012 musikprotokoll presented the CineChamber. CineChamber invited the visitors to a new dimension of audiovision. It is both an instrument and a presentation platform; a surround technology specially developed by Recombinant Media Labs (RML) for audio and video that immerses the visitors in new worlds of sound and images all specially created for CineChamber. Together with two partner festivals of the ECAS network project “Networking Tomorrow’s Art for an Unknown Future” (CTM Festival, CYNETART), a whole array of new pieces has been created – some by Austrian musicians and video artists. The event kicked off with the tightly packed, approximately three-hour opening evening with numerous world and Austrian premières; the following afternoons featured material from the already abundant archive.
ECAS supported events during the festival:
